Technically, anyone can be nominated as an Executor in your Will, but the Master of the High Court actually approves and appoints an Executor. The Master does not appoint an Executor unless he or she is a professional Estates Administrator, or unless he or she has a professional Estates Administration institution like Sempre Trust acting as their agent.
The funeral parlour or undertaker will issue this after the burial or cremation.
During the administration process, the dependents (i.e. surviving spouse or children) can be assisted financially with approval from the Master of the High Court.
Notify Sempre Trust or the institution where the original Will is held. If no Will exists, Sempre Trust is able to assist you to obtain an appointment as Executor from theMaster of the High Court and to wind up the Estate in terms of the IntestateSuccession Act.
On average, the administration of a Deceased Estate can take anywhere from six months to a year from date of receipt of the Executors appointment letter.
